Site settings

Site settings live at Settings → Tangible Quiz (options-general.php?page=tangible_quiz_settings), with a link to them from the Tangible Quiz menu. They set defaults for the whole site; individual quizzes override most of them on their own Settings tab.

Quiz Defaults

Default quiz layout is the starting point for new quizzes. Each quiz then sets its own layout under Appearance in its Settings tab, so this only decides where new ones begin.

Difficulty levels

Difficulty is **not an ordered scale you define.

Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced are simply the levels a new site starts with. You can rename them, add levels, remove levels, and reorder them.

Order is meaningful. Levels are listed easiest first, and that order is the scale that question-bank coverage and difficulty rules are measured against. Use the arrows beside each level to move it up or down.

Default difficulty is the level new questions start at. Authors can change it per question.

What happens when you remove a level

Every question must have a difficulty, and the system will not leave one orphaned. So removing a level always rehomes its questions:

  • Removing a level that has questions opens a dialog asking where those questions should go. You pick a surviving level.
  • If a level disappears without a destination (Remove All, or a level the dialog skipped because it looked empty) its questions fall to the surviving easiest level.
  • If the default difficulty was the level you removed, the default is pulled back onto the scale, again to the easiest surviving level.
Removing a level rewrites questions

This is a real data migration, not a display change. Questions are moved onto the destination level and there is no undo. Re-adding a level with the same name does not bring them back, because the new level is a new level. Decide the destination deliberately.

Renaming is safe; removing is not

Renaming a level changes its label only. Questions keep pointing at it, and nothing migrates. If your intent is "call this something else", rename it rather than removing and re-adding.
