Installation
Requirements
Tangible LMS is a WordPress plugin. Before installing, check that the site meets both minimums. WordPress will refuse to activate it on anything older.
| Requirement | Minimum |
|---|---|
| WordPress | 6.6 |
| PHP | 8.2 |
You will also need an account with the Administrator role on the site. Installing plugins requires the install_plugins capability, which by default only administrators hold.
Installing the plugin
- Log in to WP Admin.
- Go to Plugins → Add Plugin → Upload Plugin.
- Choose the Tangible LMS
.zipfile and click Install Now. - Click Activate Plugin.
Tangible LMS is distributed as a release zip rather than through the WordPress.org plugin directory. Use the zip supplied with your licence. Releases are published per version, so keep a note of which one the site is running when reporting a problem.
What activation does
On activation, and again whenever the plugin version number changes, Tangible LMS applies any pending database migrations before the rest of the plugin boots.
Two consequences:
- The first request after an update may be slower than usual, because it is doing the migration work.
- Deactivating the plugin does not roll the schema back. Migrations run in one direction only.
Installing Tangible Quiz
Quizzes are provided by a separate plugin, Tangible Quiz. If you intend to use quizzes as course steps, install and activate it the same way. It has the same WordPress and PHP minimums.
Installation order doesn't matter, since each plugin manages its own schema, and the integration between them activates when both are present.
